The OPUS Way

Preparing for the Legal Aptitude section

With every passing year, the number of students appearing for CLAT keeps on increasing and so does the pressure on students during their preparation for CLAT. The increase in competitiveness and the number of examiners might lead to the idea that mugging up mechanically for a long time will ensure success in the CLAT exam. Amongst the various sections of the CLAT question paper, legal aptitude is often considered to be the most difficult one.

Not only does it require an understanding of law properly, but the knowledge ought to be applied sensibly to some facts present in the question paper. And no amount of mugging up can be of any help as far as legal aptitude is concerned. Students often tend to take this section lightly; a grave mistake on their part since scoring in this section is not difficult given that the students are able to apply their legal knowledge sensibly.

Preparation for the legal aptitude course must be taken seriously and proper time must be allotted in going through the section of legal knowledge. This cannot be done in a day, a few weeks or during the last few months of preparation.

Focusing on the legal aptitude section must be started right during the initial stages of preparation so that students have their arsenal of legal knowledge filled and ready to use during CLAT. Students must read about legal happenings on a regular basis and make sure that important news is not forgotten, so that they can use it whenever necessary.

Extensive hard work does not guarantee success always. CLAT aspirants must be smart and intelligent to allot time and manage all the important sections effectively. Reading legal news and newspapers in general thoroughly today will definitely help students in the legal aptitude section and eventually crack CLAT tomorrow.
