NID Admission Process 2024-2025: Last Date, Eligibility, Fees

NID Admission Procedure & Registration Details

The step-by-step NID admission procedure is as follows:

Submit the Application Form

The registration process for the NID DAT 2024 started on September 8, 2023, and continued up to December 1, 2023, with a regular slot. The applications were accepted until December 3, 2023, with a late fee.

Download the DAT Prelims Admit Card: 

The admit card for DAT prelims was issued on December 12, 2023. In addition to this, candidates are expected to print the admit card and carry it along with a photo ID proof on the examination day.

Appear in DAT Prelims

Candidates report in the exam centers according to their reporting time, which is mentioned on the admit card.

The results were declared on Wednesday, April 4, 2024, on the NID admission webpage: https://admissions.nid.edu.

Shortlisting of Candidates for DAT Mains

The selection of candidates who made it through DAT Prelims will facilitate their appearance in DAT Mains. The candidates are allowed to apply for a recheck for the prelim exam.

Appear in DAT Mains

After being shortlisted, the candidates should be allowed to appear in the DAT Mains examination; the first is a studio test, and the other one is an interview.

DAT 2024 NID’s Final result will be compiled based on the marks acquired by the candidates in the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. Candidates can log in to the result portal using their dates of birth and email IDs to access their results.

Details of Registration

The registration process for a NID admission is as follows:

1. Visit the NID official website and then sign up
2. Fill in the online application form with the necessary details and then click on ‘save & proceed.’
3. Upload the necessary documents
4. Choose a payment method and pay the application fees
5. Note down the application form number and print the form
6. Send in the demand draft to the specified address (if using the demand draft)

Documents Required for Registration

Students need to upload the following documents while filling out the NID application form:

• Scanned photograph in JPG/JPEG format and size fewer than 100KB
• Scanned signature in JPG/JPEG format and size fewer than 100 KB
• Caste or OBC-NCL certificate (whichever is applicable) in JPG/JPEG format and size fewer than 150 KB
• Disability certificate, if applicable, in JPG/JPEG format and size fewer than 150 KB
• Scanned copy of first and last pages of passport for overseas applicants
• Certificates of educational qualifications

Application Fee

NID admission applicants can pay the application fee via two different modes: Online gateway (debit/credit cards) and Demand Draft. They need to pay a fee of Rs. 2000 for general and OBC-NCL, Rs. 1000 for SC/ST/ PwD, and Rs. 3000 for overseas applicants. Students selecting the demand draft option must address the same to the ‘All India Management Association’ payable in New Delhi.

NID Admission Last Date, Eligibility and Fees

The NID DAT Application Form 2024  without late fees should have been submitted by December 5, 2023, at 4 PM at the latest, and for a late fee, it was December 7, 2023. The interview selection edit window will be open from December 8-10, 2023. The NID DAT form 2024 has been available from September 8, 2023, onwards. The NID admission last date is not announced yet.

NID Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the NID admission are as follows: 

Age Limit

A candidate applying for admission into the B. Des program 20 years of age or younger in either of the general and international categories is considered. However, for the SC/ST/OBC-NCL and PwD categories, the upper age limit is 23 and 25 years for them. For the general and overseas students who aspire to enrol in the M.Des course, the upper age limit is 30 years. For the students who are from the SC/ST/OBC-NCL community and physically disabled, the upper age limit is 33 and 35 years, respectively.

Educational Qualification

• B.Des Applicants: Apart from this, he must have a minimum 12th pass or have a qualification equivalent to 12th grade from a recognized board.
• M.Des Applicants: This candidate should have a four- or five-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in any discipline.

The admission procedure for the best NIDs is as follows: 

NID Ahmedabad Admission

NID Ahmedabad admission has a multi-step process for admitting its various courses, which is both comprehensive and rigorous. 

• Applicants need to register online using NID Ahmedabad’s website domain.
• Candidates need to sit in the Design Aptitude Test(DAT) assimilated by NID for the course of both the BDes and MDes programs. DAT evaluates students’ ability to draw, sketch, and sculpt and verifies their drawing and crafting skills.
• After the release of the merit list by the NID through a proper weightage of DAT Prelims and DAT Mains scores, candidates are again ranked relatively. The merit list is categorized into: General, OBC, SC, ST, and PWD.
• The undergraduate programs in NID Ahmedabad are divided into seats for every candidate based on their rank in the NID DAT 2024 merit list, their preferred campus, and their grammatical dexterity in the DAT. The process of online seat allotment list publication by the institute is much smoother these days, and candidates have to attend online or campus rounds to confirm seats.
• The shortlisted students can only confirm their spaces by paying a non-refundable admission fee and submitting the required documents in time thus fulfilling the NID Ahmedabad admission criteria.

NID Jorhat Admission

NID Jorhat Admission process is as follows: 

• Applicants are rated based on their visual aptitude, workability, and attitude, which are the essential requirements of a successful designer.
• NID holds the National Aptitude Design Test (DAT) every year. The registered candidates get admission priority through an online application procedure.
• The portfolio of the candidate is mandatorily required. It must include works of art that demonstrate their skills. The portfolio must be electronically submitted to NID’s official website.
• The final steps of the application process are represented by a rating during recording and an interview.  At the interview stage, candidates show their projects, design ideas, and career aims to the panel of faculty in person or online.

NID Bangalore Admission

Steps to Apply for NID Bangalore admission: 

• The institute’s website allows you to fill out the application online.
• To sign on to the portal, click on the ‘Apply Now’ button to register as a new candidate on the website.
• Indicate any necessary information in the form and attach a scanned version of the mandatory documents.
• Select the date and venue that fits the individual’s preferences and device them while the students fill out the application form.
• Complete the registration process by exchanging the corresponding rank fees and submitting the application form.
• Please print out the thoroughly filled application form or keep a copy of it for the future.

NID Delhi Admission

The NID Delhi admission process is as follows:

• Register and submit a filled-online form on the https://nid.gov.in/ home page.
• Selection for these programs will depend on candidates doing the DAT test as an entrance requirement for B. Des and M. Des.
• NID Delhi declares cut-off marks depending on composite scores of DAT Prelims and Mains. With the help of these scores, the merit list will be generated.
• Seats are allotted under this quota through NID Delhi based on Merit, campus preferences, and DAT performance. 
• The selected candidates should register themselves by paying an admission fee and submitting the required documents accordingly within a given period.

NID Gandhinagar Admission

The NID Gandhinagar admission process is as follows: 

• Register online and complete the application form on the NID Gandhinagar official website.
• The candidates must appear for the DAT B. Des and M. Des examinations for drawing assessments, which also assess the ability to sketch and model alike.
• NID Gandhinagar has a new merit list system that calculates the candidates’ scores based on a weighted average of DAT Prelims and Mains, dividing them into different categories.
• The NID Gandhinagar dean allocates seats based on merit lists and DAT performance. The allocation list is displayed on the website for the candidates’ information.
• Seats are reserved for the selected candidates after they pay the mandatory fees and submit the required documents within the stipulated deadline.

NID Admission Counseling

The NID admission process includes counseling involving three steps:

Step 1: Online Consent

Candidates who pass the design aptitude examination (DAT), studio test, and interview are given an online consent form that they must submit within the time frame specified to continue with the admission process. The first merit list is created using the online consent forms submitted by candidates.

Step 2: Uploading Documents for Verification

In the next step in NID admission counseling, the students have to upload the original copies of documents like mark sheets of classes 10 and 12, birth certificate, and all the degree certificates in case one is applying for M. Des.

Step 3: Provisional Admission Offer

After the successful verification of the candidates, they were given a provisional admission offer. This offer includes the details like:

• Rules and Regulations of the college.
• The format of the physical fitness certificate.
• The format of undertaking to be submitted (only if 12th class or bachelor’s final results are not announced).
• Indemnity bond.
• The hostel application form, along with rules and regulations.
