NID Admission Procedure & Registration Details
The step-by-step NID admission procedure is as follows:
Submit the Application Form
The registration process for the NID DAT 2024 started on September 8, 2023, and continued up to December 1, 2023, with a regular slot. The applications were accepted until December 3, 2023, with a late fee.
Download the DAT Prelims Admit Card:
The admit card for DAT prelims was issued on December 12, 2023. In addition to this, candidates are expected to print the admit card and carry it along with a photo ID proof on the examination day.
Appear in DAT Prelims
Candidates report in the exam centers according to their reporting time, which is mentioned on the admit card.

The results were declared on Wednesday, April 4, 2024, on the NID admission webpage: https://admissions.nid.edu.
Shortlisting of Candidates for DAT Mains
The selection of candidates who made it through DAT Prelims will facilitate their appearance in DAT Mains. The candidates are allowed to apply for a recheck for the prelim exam.

NID Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the NID admission are as follows:
Age Limit
A candidate applying for admission into the B. Des program 20 years of age or younger in either of the general and international categories is considered. However, for the SC/ST/OBC-NCL and PwD categories, the upper age limit is 23 and 25 years for them. For the general and overseas students who aspire to enrol in the M.Des course, the upper age limit is 30 years. For the students who are from the SC/ST/OBC-NCL community and physically disabled, the upper age limit is 33 and 35 years, respectively.
Educational Qualification
- B.Des Applicants: Apart from this, he must have a minimum 12th pass or have a qualification equivalent to 12th grade from a recognized board.
- M.Des Applicants: This candidate should have a four- or five-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution in any discipline.

NID Ahmedabad Admission
NID Ahmedabad admission has a multi-step process for admitting its various courses, which is both comprehensive and rigorous.
- Applicants need to register online using NID Ahmedabad’s website domain.
- Candidates need to sit in the Design Aptitude Test(DAT) assimilated by NID for the course of both the BDes and MDes programs. DAT evaluates students’ ability to draw, sketch, and sculpt and verifies their drawing and crafting skills.
- After the release of the merit list by the NID through a proper weightage of DAT Prelims and DAT Mains scores, candidates are again ranked relatively. The merit list is categorized into: General, OBC, SC, ST, and PWD.
- The undergraduate programs in NID Ahmedabad are divided into seats for every candidate based on their rank in the NID DAT 2024 merit list, their preferred campus, and their grammatical dexterity in the DAT. NID Admission Counseling
The NID admission process includes counseling involving three steps:
Step 1: Online Consent
Candidates who pass the design aptitude examination (DAT), studio test, and interview are given an online consent form that they must submit within the time frame specified to continue with the admission process. The first merit list is created using the online consent forms submitted by candidates.
Step 2: Uploading Documents for Verification
In the next step in NID admission counseling, the students have to upload the original copies of documents like mark sheets of classes 10 and 12, birth certificate, and all the degree certificates in case one is applying for M. Des.
Step 3: Provisional Admission Offer
After the successful verification of the candidates, they were given a provisional admission offer. This offer includes the details like:

- The format of the physical fitness certificate.
