Digital SAT Format & Features
The New Digital SAT has some really cool features and additions over the older paper based. The new test is adaptive, with a total of 98 questions with a score range of 400 – 1600. The exam will be held online in the MCQ + Student Produced Responses.

There are tonnes of prep resources online, but only a few are standardized to cater to the new digital SAT. Some reliable prep resources for the digital SAT would be CollegeBoard’s SAT Question Bank, BlueBook, Khan Academy, OPUS resources and others.
Adaptive Testing Overview
Adaptive difficulty is basically Questions adjusing to your performance. If you perform at a certain level in module 1, then module 2 adjusts its difficulty accordingly. Eg: If you get more than 70% of the questions right in module 1, you are likely to get a tougher set of questions in module 2.

- The Digital SAT is a computer-based version of the SAT that is administered on a tablet.
- The test is scored the same way as the paper-and-pencil SAT, and the content is similar as well.
- However, there are some differences in the format of the test, such as the fact that students can see all of their answer choices at once on the Digital SAT.
- The Digital SAT is currently being offered in pilot form to a limited number of students.
- The College Board plans to begin offering the Digital SAT to all students in 2023.
- You can take the SAT as many times as you want, but most students take the test 2 or 3 times. We recommend taking the PSAT or a practice test your sophomore year. Plan ahead to take the official SAT in spring or winter of junior year. If you are unhappy with your score, that leaves you time to prep and take it again before application deadlines. Your scores are good for 5 years.
- The testing environment for the Digital SAT is similar to the testing environment for the paper-and-pencil SAT.
- You will be seated in a quiet, individual testing station.
- A perfect score on the SAT is 1600. The minimum score is 400. A good SAT score will depend on your goal and your dream school. A 1060 is about average, though the official average can vary from year to year. Some colleges superscore. This means they combine your highest Math score and your highest Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score from multiple test dates to make a “super” score.
- Good news: you don’t have to spend hours memorizing flashcards. Some formulas are provided, and all vocab is tested in context. To prepare for test day, brush up your foundational skills.
