Best CLAT Coaching Features
Provide you with relevant study material:
This aspect is crucial because there are tonnes of material available online and at times a lot of those materials are irrelevant or garbage. Focussed material which will introduce you to concepts that are actually tested on the CLAT should be adhered to! For eg: CLAT rarely tests students on geometry and advanced algebra (5 questions in 10 years of CLAT), but a lot of study material focusses on these areas and wastes your time. Logarithms are never tested, high-level vocabulary is rarely a feature and Data interpretation questions (1 set in the last 10 years, which wasn’t really a DI question, but a basic application of percentage question) have rarely featured on the CLAT. These among a lot of other topics frequently appear in a lot of study material online and are a complete waste of time. The experienced coaching centers will provide you with relevant material that is frequently tested on the CLAT and therefore the curriculum maximizes your time. So join a good coaching or at least subscribe to their material!
Mentorship from the basics:
This is something that every candidate needs. CLAT isn’t the toughest exam in the country, but to top, the CLAT one needs to have an insane strategy to crack the exam. Some of these strategies include time management, shortcuts, best study techniques, reading skills and applying your mind to gauge and answer questions quickly. The CLAT is a 150 question test to be answered in 120 minutes; Leaves you less than a minute for each question. So your strategy has to be absolutely insane! A good coaching centre can provide you with experienced mentors who will guide you throughout your prep on how to maximize your efficiency in the test. There are loads of concepts that can be assessed using the traditional way, or with shortcuts and techniques that are not taught in school. You’d fare better with the latter! So great mentors are key to your prep because you will have someone to guide you on the best study techniques and will also keep motivating you through the grueling preparation needed to make it to a top NLU
CLAT Mock Tests:
I can’t stress on how important this aspect of your prep is! Mock tests are the key to cracking any exam. The CLAT is no different. Once your basics are clear and you’re used to solving CLAT questions, put yourself to the test through simulated mocks. OPUS mocks are the most advanced mocks in the country and will expose you to real-time testing on our state of the art platform. Analysing your mocks and figuring out your weaknesses is the key to crack CLAT. CLAT Mock tests will not only expose you to the CLAT (OPUS mocks are at a much higher level than the real CLAT), but also get you to get ready for test day. Taking 2 mocks a week for 6 months is ideal. If you spend 2 hours to take a mock, you should spend at least the same time to analyze it. Assessing your strengths and weaknesses is crucial! A good coaching centre will motivate you to take mocks and their mentors will help you sort out your problems on a regular basis. Try out a free mock here!
Other Reasons:
Competition! Yea, that’s right. If you’re preparing for CLAT on your own, it’s tough to assess how you’re doing compared to your peers. Yes, you can check out your rank in your test portal and see how you fare compared to others, but this isn’t the best metric. More often than not, the toppers in mock tests are not real toppers in CLAT. So if you’re in a classroom set up, you have others doing what you’re doing, class discussions make your prep more interesting and you make great friends in the process. Your mentors and your peers will keep you motivated, and just in case you have a doubt about a topic, you have a ready reckoner in your mentor to clarify it asap!
All in all, a good coaching centre will help you boost your CLAT preparation. Do a little research to figure out which CLAT coaching institute will be ideal for you. You can take some CLAT demo classes to figure out how the mentors train and get a general feel of how you will learn.
Here are some free resources which can be useful for your prep. (Note: this is just a sample version of what you’ll get at OPUS. The material and classes are much more intense with extensive mentor books and handouts)
