The CLAT, or Common Law Admission Test, is a law entrance exam that includes questions from a syllabus covering topics such as general knowledge, current affairs, legal aptitude, logical reasoning, English, and math. The application process for CLAT 2024 closed on November 18, 2022. The exam will also release a third sample paper for registered candidates who have completed the application process. Two sample papers have already been released. In addition, an Emotional Health Support Service is available for registered candidates.

This year, the CLAT exam is being held in December for the first time, instead of its usual date in the first week of May. The CLAT exam for 2024 will also be held in December 2024 in offline mode. This change may be beneficial for candidates as it does not conflict with board exams, but it also means they have less time to prepare. Aspirants are advised to plan accordingly.

Important Preparation Tips for Each Subject in CLAT 2024

Candidates preparing for CLAT 2022 should consider the following preparation tips

CLAT legal aptitude 2024

Legal aptitude is a crucial part of the CLAT exam. Candidates preparing for the legal aptitude section of CLAT 2024 should focus on building a strong foundation in this area. To prepare effectively, candidates should approach the legal aptitude section in a comprehensive manner, covering both current legal affairs and traditional legal concepts and terminology. It may be helpful to try to connect current legal issues with foundational legal concepts to better understand and remember the material.

To prepare for the legal aptitude section of the CLAT exam, candidates may find the following resources helpful:

  • “Legal Awareness and Legal Aptitude” by AP Bhardwaj
  • LexisNexis Butterworths
  • The Hindu or The Indian Express
  • Legal magazines, judgments, and editorials

Preparation for CLAT Current Affairs and General Knowledge

The current affairs and general knowledge sections of the CLAT exam will test a candidate’s awareness of contemporary issues of national and international importance, as well as their knowledge of static topics such as history, politics, economics, and the environment. These sections may include comprehension paragraphs that candidates will need to read before answering questions, and a good understanding of current issues and general knowledge will not only help candidates answer more questions correctly, but also do so more quickly. To prepare for these sections of the CLAT exam, candidates can follow the following tips:

  • Read a daily newspaper such as The Hindu, The Indian Express, or The Live Mint
  • Read articles and editorials from newspapers and online sources
  • Review the history, politics, economics, and environment topics covered in Class 12
  • Read a monthly current affairs magazine
  • Practice with sample papers for the CLAT 2024 exam.

Preparation Tips for CLAT English

The English and comprehension section of the CLAT 2024 exam will test a candidate’s reading ability, as well as their analytical and grammatical skills. Therefore, candidates should focus on all of these areas in their preparation. Since all questions in this section will be based on paragraphs, it is important to prioritize reading skills and grammar. To prepare for the CLAT 2024 English section, candidates can read newspapers, articles, and editorials, and use a grammar book to improve their skills. It may also be helpful to create a notebook specifically for vocabulary, legal terminology, and idioms and phrases. To get a feel for the format of the CLAT exam, candidates should practice with sample papers and become familiar with the exam pattern. This will help them shape their preparation to meet the specific requirements of the test.
