Candidates should take different online tests and opt for online preparations to chalk out a winning strategy. This will not only increase efficiency but also improve timing.
Avoid starting the paper with the toughest question
Think twice if you feel the tough ones should be tackled first. Attempting the most difficult ones first is a faux pas. It gobbles up maximum time. You should solve the easy ones so that you are able to complete the majority of questions. This will give the much-needed boost to solve the remaining questions.
Don’t panic and misconstrue a question
When candidates get unnerved, they misinterpret the question and mark the answer accordingly. Keep calm, stay composed and remain attentive while answering the questions. If panic overpowers you, then it will slow down your faculties and you will not be able to answer what you know.
Blind guess perilous
Many candidates are victims of negative marking because of blind guesses. All aspirants should avoid making wild guesses as they might end up losing the marks of their correct answers as well.
Manage your time well
Thinking and checking your answer is a good practice. But do not spend much time brooding over a single question. Do not let your ego come in the way. It is important to divide time for each and every question and then answer. Managing time will not only help you complete your paper correctly but also give you some time to reflect with a tranquil mind.
Work smart
Tenacity is not enough, dear. Make the most of every hour you spend on preparation. Analyse your performance, tweak the focus of your preparation accordingly. Most aspirants flounder to do this and end up paying a heavy price. A mediocre score gets them nowhere close to the gates of their dream college.
Excessive Cramming
Right from school days, many candidates have the habit of cramming up everything. Rote-learning is injurious. The questions appearing in the CLAT exam are indirect and rephrased. Hardly 2-3 questions are asked directly from the previous year papers. You can envisage your nervous state during the exam. Therefore, avoid mugging up lessons and develop a perspective for every topic that is included in the syllabus. Trust OPUS, you will not regret doing this.
Unanswered questions marked for review
As the CLAT test carries negative marking, candidates mark the lengthy or tough questions for later review but they either run out of time or forget to review those questions. At the end of first round of attempting the question paper, one must spend ample time to review and mark the unanswered ones.
Not attempting timed, full-length practice tests
Because of time constraints and engaging schedule during the board exams, many students rarely allocate sufficient time to complete a full-length practice test in one sitting. Bear in mind that the CLAT contains five sections. You have to concentrate for more than two hours on test day. Therefore, not doing full-length practice tests can ruin your chances. It would be advisable to simulate the conditions you will face on the D-day. Joining OPUS can get you in that mental frame.
Keep note of these widespread blunders and make sure you do not make any of these while preparing for CLAT. OPUS wants you to crack the exam in the maiden attempt and therefore, you are advised to follow the guidelines to a T. OPUS expects you to realise your ambition with a little caution that keeps you in better control of your performance.
