CLAT 2022 will be conducted on Last Sunday, 2022. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the law entrance exam for admissions to as many as 2342 seats in five-year integrated law programmes including BA LLB, B.Com LLB and B.Sc LLB. From 2021 to 2022, there was a jump of 27% in the number of candidates who appeared for CLAT.
Due to difficulty level of the exam and tough competition, only a few get through the examination to get a seat in the top 10 Law programmes in India. The remaining candidates either opt another option or drop a year to prepare and again appear for the exam in the next year. In fact a major percentage of candidates studying at top 5 law schools of India are droppers.

Here are few strategic tips for the candidates reappearing for the CLAT on May 8, 2019.
1. Stick to what’s important
As the dropping candidates have already been through the syllabus, henceforth, there is no need to cover the entire syllabus from scratch. You have this edge over every first timer who also has to juggle preparation for Boards. You must stick only to the important topic that you left unprepared and the ones that are important from examination point of view. Analyze CLAT 2018’s exam paper; mark the topics they didn’t know, prepare them. Also mark the questions that you knew but could not attempt due to time shortage, and work on time management.
2. Solving previous years’ papers is a MUST!
First timers might not have time for this but that’s not the case with you. You must be thinking, what’s new in this tip.
Have you ACTUALLY done this?? For 90% of you, the answer is NO!
Hear it again- you must cover at least past 3 years exam papers to get a clear idea about the type of questions asked, topics to be covered and the format of the paper. Only then its possible to predict what is expected in CLAT 2019. You must practice sincerely the topics which are repeatedly asked every year. This will guide you about the topics that need your focus and get a good command over them. Afterall, what’s the point in wasting time on the less important questions.
3. Build pace, why?
Competitive exams are not only about how much you know but also answering all the known questions within the allotted time frame. In order to finish answering within the time frame you need to be quick and alert. For this, practice as much as you can. The more you practice, more command you will gain and efficiency will increase. How exactly will you boost your speed? By taking mocks and seeing exactly where you are losing time and what works for you.
4. It’s mandatory to have a Plan
The difference between a CLAT topper and an average performer is the plan with which he goes to the exam room. You know by now that its not just your knowledge that is getting tested in CLAT. Its your actual attempt on D-day that matters. Candidates must build a master plan to attempt the exam paper.
Try attempting 1 mock per week and then increase it to 2 mocks/week in the last month. Try attempting it in all possible ways they can imagine: Logical first, GK first, Legal first… Why? Because by doing so candidates will find out their strengths and weaknesses and builda strategy that optimizes their score. Candidates will come to know which section to attempt first, what type of questions to begin with, and how much time to allot to each section and each type of question. If they don’t know an answer should they waste time on it or use the same time for earning scores from other known questions in the exam.
Best way to build a SOLID plan is practice.
5. Why online practice is crucial?
Still practicing the old school way? Come out of your books and start practicing online. Why? Because exam will be in online mode and there is enormous difference in attempting an examination in online and offline mode. Candidates who practiced previous year on paper with pen faced a lot of difficulty attempting the online exam. They were not able to attempt questions online as much as they did offline, not even close. Hence, online practice is the real exercise to ascertain success. 6. GK- the Rank Booster
Most of the dropping candidates skipped the general knowledge section or took it lightly in their previous attempt. Please, don’t do that because this the most scoring section of CLAT or any other Law Entrance Exam. The questions require almost no time to attempt as no calculation is required. This section’s major share includes current affairs which should be taken care of. Be prepared with current affairs at least of past one year. And lastly, learn to ignore useless neighbours and friends (so called) who doubt your potential, just because you dared to drop a year to get a better rank in CLAT. Stick to your decision to do something different, by opting for law.
